OpenAI CEO Sam Altman, during Bill Gates' podcast, said he started OpenAI without a product. "OpenAI did...things that are very against the standard Y Combinator advice. We took 4.5 years to launch our first product...We weren't talking to users," Altman, who served as Y Combinator President before starting OpenAI, said. "I don't recommend that for most companies," he added.
