Bending semiconductors generates electricity: Study
short by Rini Kapoor / on Tuesday, 27 September, 2016
In a first, Spanish researchers have shown semiconductors generate a voltage when bent and can bend in response to a voltage, disproving previous belief of the property being exhibited only by electrical insulators. Scientists found the response increases with the material's thickness. The findings may help in the use of semiconductors in applications like pressure sensors and micro-generators.
