The Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) council on Friday elected Congress corporator Gangambike Mallikarjun as the BBMP Mayor and Janata Dal (Secular) corporator Ramila Umashankar as the Deputy Mayor. The elections were held amid heated arguments between council members of the Congress, the BJP, and the JD(S). BJP, while accusing election officials of being biased, boycotted the polls.
