Stomach cancer is usually caused by a common kind of bacteria called Helicobacter pylori, which causes infection that leads to ulcers. These ulcers raise your risk of stomach cancer. Doctors say H. pylori is a routine infection with more than half of all people getting it at some point, usually childhood as this spiral-shaped bacteria probably infects through your mouth.
