Beyond the craniotomy: Managing rare bone complications in kids

Researchers at CMC Vellore tracked elective paediatric brain surgeries from 2004 to 2023 to tackle a rare complication: bone flap osteomyelitis. They found 1/3rd of the infected cases had Tuberculosis, requiring up to eighteen months of medications. The takeaway? If a wound won't heal, test for Tuberculosis to ensure these young patients get back to a healthy life.
