Uttarakhand Education Minister Dhan Singh Rawat stated that the government has tasked the SCERT with revising the school syllabus to include the Bhagavad Gita and Ramayana. "Until this is implemented, students will recite shlokas from the Bhagavad Gita and Ramayana during their morning prayer meetings," he added. These instructions apply to approximately 17,000 government schools in the state.
