Late ghazal maestro Jagjit Singh’s wife, singer Chitra Singh says her husband deserves the Bharat Ratna, India’s highest civilian honour. "The country must give him his due," she said. Chitra had been persuading Manmohan Singh and Sonia Gandhi, for many years to award the Bharat Ratna to her husband.
