Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman and her Bhutanese counterpart Lyonpo Namgay Tshering jointly launched India's BHIM UPI payments system in Bhutan. With this, Bhutan has become the first country to adopt UPI standards for its QR deployment. "BHIM UPI is one of the achievements of India in terms of fintech," Sitharaman said, who also made a live transaction during the launch.
