In a recent case in Gujarat, a teacher married twice and then abandoned both wives, without divorcing them, to have a live-in relationship. Bigamy- the act of marrying someone whilst already having a spouse, is a crime under Section 17 of HMA, even if you take the permission of your wife, which the teacher claimed to have done.
