A Punjab court on Thursday sent Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) leader Bikram Majithia to a seven-day vigilance remand. Majithia was arrested by the Punjab vigilance bureau on Wednesday for allegedly laundering more than ₹540 crore of "drug money". Meanwhile, a heavy police force was stationed around the court premises as Akali Dal workers have been protesting since Majithia's arrest.
