An anti-caste discrimination bill has been passed by the California State Assembly that seeks to combat caste discrimination and strengthen protections for marginalised communities across the state. The bill will become a law after Governor Gavin Newsom signs it. If passed, California will set a precedent by becoming the first US state to address caste discrimination through such legislation.
