Bill Gates spends ₹1,240 cr on 14,500-acre farmland: Report

World's second richest person Bill Gates reportedly spent $171 million (₹1,240 crore) to buy 14,500 acres of farmland in the US' Washington. The Microsoft Co-founder, who is worth $98.9 billion, bought the property from John Hancock Life Insurance Company, which paid $75 million for it in 2010. This is reportedly the most expensive US land sale so far this year.
