Microsoft Co-founder Bill Gates-backed startup Heliogen has claimed a "breakthrough" by turning sunlight into a source of heat exceeding 1,000°C, which could help replace fossil fuels. California-based Heliogen achieved this by using AI to align a large array of mirrors and reflect sunlight on a solitary target. It achieved the record heat levels the first day of its plant's operation.
