The Assam Cabinet on Saturday approved a bill to prohibit practices of 'magical healing' in the name of treating congenital diseases like deafness, dumbness, blindness, physical deformity and autism. As per Assam Healing (Prevention of Evil) Practices Bill, 2024, the so-called 'healers' who commit illegal acts in the name of magical healing will be punished with imprisonment and a fine.
