Scientists from Vidyasagar University, West Bengal, with the help of local fishermen, have collected a specimen of a new fish from the Rupnarayan River. Butis bargabhimae was distinguished by its unique scales and fin patterns. By naming the species after the deity Bargabhima, scientists have underscored the species' cultural relevance.
