At least 4,400 chickens died due to a bird flu (H5N1) outbreak at a state-run poultry farm in Chhattisgarh's Bilaspur. Authorities have scaled up surveillance within a 10-km radius. "Samples from dead birds were sent to Bhopal and Pune...Bhopal lab confirmed presence of avian influenza," officials said. As per protocol, birds and eggs will be destroyed in the infected zone.
