German footwear brand Birkenstock filed an infringement suit in Delhi Court in May against four traders, four factories and two unnamed individuals over fake products being sold with its branding in India, Reuters reported. Birkenstock said counterfeits were being made in areas around Agra and being exported and sold locally. The court appointed 10 lawyers as commissioners to inspect factories.
