Birth control pills may triple stroke risk in young women: Study

A study presented at the ESOC 2025 by Dr Mine Sezgin found that young women using combined oral contraceptives are nearly three times more likely to suffer cryptogenic strokes. Based on 536 participants, the research highlighted the need for caution in prescribing these pills, especially to women with existing vascular risk factors.
