Births fall in Japan for 10th straight year

The number of children born in Japan in 2025 fell 2.1% from a year earlier to 705,809. This is the tenth straight year that the country is witnessing a fall in births. Meanwhile, 505,656 couples got married in 2025, up 1.1%, while the number of divorces fell 3.7% to 182,969 cases.
