Congress leader Rahul Gandhi said BJP has been spreading lies about his remarks in America. Rahul said, "I want to ask every Sikh brother and sister...is there anything wrong in what I've said? Shouldn't India be a country where every Sikh and every Indian can freely practice their religion?" He added, "[BJP is]...desperate to silence me...[it] cannot stand the truth."
