BJP got its first-ever mayor in Kerala after its leader, VV Rajesh, was elected mayor of Thiruvananthapuram Corporation on Friday, ending nearly four decades of Left dominance in the capital city’s civic body. Rajesh won the mayoral election with 51 votes in the 101-member council and later took the oath as the mayor. BJP won 50 of the 101 wards.
