In a bid to reclaim Matua vote and counter CM Mamata Banerjee's "Bengali Asmita" pitch, BJP has launched CAA help desks- CAA Sahajogita Shibirs- in Matua-majority areas of North 24 Parganas, starting in Bagda. The drive promotes "apply first, verify later" citizenship for undocumented refugees, BJP leader said. Matua community is a significant Hindu reformist group with roots in Bangladesh.
