BJP on Wednesday named party spokesperson Syed Zafar Islam as its candidate for the Rajya Sabha bypoll to a seat from Uttar Pradesh. The election has been necessitated after the demise of sitting member Amar Singh. The EC said in a press note that the election will be held between 9 am and 4 pm on September 11.
