BJP corporator Ritu Tawde was elected Mayor of Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) on Wednesday, while Shiv Sena's Sanjay Shankar Ghadi became the Deputy Mayor. Both the leaders were elected unopposed, as the candidates from the Opposition didn't field any candidates. This is first time in 25 years that a party other than Shiv Sena will hold the BMC Mayor post.
