Scientists directly measured power of black hole jets for first time using radio telescopes. Studying Cygnus X-1, they found jets moving at about half the speed of light and releasing energy equal to 10,000 Suns. "A key finding...is that...about...10% of...the energy released as matter falls in towards the black hole is carried away by...jets," said lead author Dr. Steve Prabu.
