The loud explosion heard on Tuesday evening in Syria's capital Damascus was due to the detonation of leftover munitions by Syrian security forces as part of a training exercise, Reuters said. Earlier, locals had reported seeing a plume of smoke rising in the western neighbourhoods of the city. Reuters added that no one was wounded in the controlled blast.
