Blood tests may help detect Alzheimer’s changes

Dr Syamlal S explains how blood biomarkers such as phosphorylated tau, amyloid-beta and NfL may help identify Alzheimer's-related brain changes, particularly in people with memory problems. However, an abnormal blood test alone cannot diagnose Alzheimer's. He stresses the importance of clinical, neurological and cognitive assessment, with MRI, PET or cerebrospinal-fluid testing when required.
