The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) has imposed a ₹1 crore fine on the contractor after a construction rig collapsed during piling work at Maharashtra Nagar in Mankhurd on April 29, killing a police constable. The incident also caused major disruption on the Sion-Panvel Highway. The action follows alleged safety and supervision lapses at the project site.
