The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) removed the red and blue beacon from Mayor Ritu Tawde's official vehicle and its escort car after a controversy over their authorisation. The issue surfaced on social media and via an RTI complaint by Anil Galgali. Mayor Tawde called it an "administrative oversight", saying she had no interest in a red beacon car.
