BMC to install steel nets across Mumbai nullahs by May 2028

BMC has set a May 2028 deadline to install 10-foot steel nets across all major nullahs in Mumbai's suburbs to curb garbage dumping. Piloted in Bandra West in 2023, the measure proved effective. Challenges remain in Mankhurd and Dharavi due to encroachments. Mumbai has 314 major nullahs spanning 300 km.
