Claiming that troops had shot a lookalike posing as the militant commander, Nigeria military said on Wednesday that Boko Haram leader Abubakar Shekau was dead. A heavily bearded Islamist fighter identified as Mohammed Bashir has "been acting or posing on videos as the deceased Abubakar Shekau, the eccentric character known as leader of the group", said Defence spokesman Chris Olukolade.
