Former Brazilian President Jair Bolsonaro has been ordered by a federal court to pay approximately ₹1.7 crore in damages for racist remarks he made during his tenure. The inquiry originated from Bolsonaro's statements to a Black supporter who approached him in 2021 and asked to take a picture, after which Bolsonaro likened the supporter's hair to a "cockroach breeding ground".
