The Bombay High Court has taken suo motu cognisance of delays in India's adoption process, noting that prospective parents wait an average of 3.5 years to adopt. The court sought responses from the Centre, CARA, and others, and appointed two amici curiae to assist. The matter is scheduled for hearing on June 23, 2025.
