Philip Frenzel, an engineer at Aalen University in Germany, has developed a case which protects the phone by bouncing back when it senses the phone is falling. The design comprises of a thin protective case that uses sensors to deploy metal springs whilst free falling. Frenzel also won the top award from the German Society for Mechatronics for this innovation.
