Brain doesn't start blank, it trims excess links over time: Study

Researchers at the Institute of Science and Technology Austria found that the brain is not a "blank slate" at birth and instead starts as a dense, tangled web of nerve cells. They added that the brain optimises itself as a person grows and "trims away" unnecessary and excess links. Researchers said this finding may help the brain learn things faster.
