The bridge that collapsed in Maharashtra's Pune district was reportedly ordered to be demolished a year ago. According to Maharashtra minister Girish Mahajan, the tender for a new bridge had been announced last year. Maval MLA Sunil Shelke said that the iron bridge on the Indrayani River was 30 years old. At least two people died after it collapsed.
