Britain's sugar tax on soft drinks came into effect on Friday, a move aimed at reversing the trend of obesity among children. The tax will be levied on drinks with sugar content exceeding 5 grams per 100 ml. The tax revenue would be used to fund sports programmes and nutritious breakfast clubs for children, the Public Health Ministry said.
