Hyderabad's rise as a medical tourism hub drew a 59-year-old British taxi driver, Alexandria Fox, from London to KIMS Hospitals, Gachibowli, for bariatric surgery. Weighing 102 kg and battling hypertension, thyroid disease and kidney failure, Fox underwent a sleeve gastrectomy performed by Dr Mannur, a minimally invasive procedure that removes about two-thirds of the stomach.
