Buddhist monks lead violent protest against Jewish centre in Sri Lanka

A newly established Chabad House in Sri Lanka’s coastal resort town of Hiriketiya faced violent protests on Friday. The protesters, led by Buddhist monks, demanded the closure of the Jewish centre and urged authorities to investigate legality of its activities. The property operates a kosher restaurant, hosts Shabbat meals and provides a space for Israeli travellers visiting southern Sri Lanka.
