Bugs reveal a healthy river in Uttarakhand
Long before a laboratory test can tell us whether a stream is healthy, its smallest residents already know. A first of its kind study uses stoneflies, caddisflies and mayflies as natural indicators of water quality in Rawasan stream of Uttarakhand. The findings suggest the stream remains clean, resilient and ecologically healthy overall, despite some signs of minor stress.
