Byadgi farmer’s fiery protests as dry chilli prices drop

Tension prevailed at Byadgi International Market on Monday, 11 March, as a sudden drop in dry chilly prices upset farmers who staged protests and reportedly set ablaze vehicles and an APMC office. In one week, the prices reportedly dropped by ₹12,000 to around ₹10,000 per quintal. Chief Minister Siddaramaiah has sought a report on the price drop.
