C Sankaran Nair challenged British rule through law

C Sankaran Nair, born in 1857 in Kerala, was an Indian lawyer and judge in British India. After the 1919 Jallianwala Bagh massacre in Amritsar, he resigned from the Viceroy’s Executive Council in protest. In 1924, he filed a defamation case in London against Michael O’Dwyer and later served as President of the Indian National Congress, advocating swaraj.
