The Union Cabinet on Wednesday approved India's sixth and Uttar Pradesh's first semiconductor unit. The unit is a joint venture of HCL and Foxconn, and the semiconductor plant will be set up near Jewar airport in the Yamuna Expressway Industrial Development Authority. The plant is designed for 20,000 wafers/month, and the design output capacity is 36 million units/month.
