Cabinet Secretary TV Somanathan has called a meeting with the heads of banks to prevent immediate action against Mahanagar Telephone Nigam Limited (MTNL) in ₹8,346 crore loan defaults, Moneycontrol reported. He has called a meeting with public sector banks on May 16. The participants will likely look for a stop-gap arrangement to prevent MTNL's accounts from being declared non-performing assets.
