Cage-free egg farming may increase emissions: Study

A new UK-based study suggests cage-free and free-range egg systems may improve animal welfare but could increase environmental impact. Researchers found fully free-range and organic egg production may raise greenhouse gas emissions by up to 60% and require nearly twice as much land. Experts say future farming must balance animal welfare, food production and sustainability.
