Around 100 members of the New York-based Sri Chinmoy Centre broke the Guinness World Record for the most candles on a birthday cake, lighting 72,585 candles on an 80.5 feet long sponge cake. The team, led by record-breaker Ashrita Furman, was celebrating what would have been the 85th birthday of Sri Chinmoy, an Indian-origin spiritual leader who taught meditation abroad.
