Eileen Wang has resigned as mayor of Arcadia, a city in California, after agreeing to plead guilty to acting as an illegal agent of the Chinese government. She was accused of carrying out directives from Chinese officials, including sharing articles favourable to Beijing, without notifying the US government, as required under American law. The 58-year-old was elected in November 2022.
