California records its 1st 'gigafire' after wildfire spreads beyond 1 mn acres

The US' state of California recorded its first 'gigafire' since modern records began in the early 1930s after the August Complex fire spread beyond one million acres of land. The fire is larger than the state of Rhode Island and is raging across seven counties. The wildfires in California have burned four million acres so far this year.
