The University of Cambridge has decided to name its chemistry department after Indian scientist and the chairman of Cipla Yusuf Hamied. The department will be called Yusuf Hamied Department of Chemistry till 2050. A former alumnus, Hamied was honoured in recognition of his 'generous benefaction' which will establish the Yusuf Hamied fund and the Hamied Scholars Programme in the department.
