Can a housing society directly evict a tenant?
Housing society tenants can’t be evicted by the society if the flat is owned by a society member, as the tenancy is between the member and the tenant, Livemint reported, citing an expert. “However, where the society itself owns the premises...it’s the landlord and can evict through the same Transfer of Property Act (TPA) and rent-control framework,” the expert added.
